What are Orthodontics?
Orthodontic treatment is a great way to have the smile that you both need and want. It’s very uncommon to have perfectly straight teeth. However, your teeth may be so crowded or crooked that it’s almost impossible to keep them clean. In this case, orthodontic treatment can be used to perfect the alignment of your smile and the way that your teeth look.
Why would Orthodontics be needed?
Orthodontics are ideal for patients who have crooked, crowded or spaced teeth. Treatment can help with improving under and overbites as well as open bites. Treatment is customized for each individual patient. Regardless of age, it’s never too early or too late to consider orthodontic care.
Who is a candidate for Orthodontic treatment?
Dr. Ju will examine your teeth to determine if you would benefit from orthodontic care. Most people who have crooked or misaligned teeth can and will benefit from having some type of orthodontic treatment. We offer an array of orthodontic options for our patients. From clear aligners to fixed traditional braces, we are able to personalize treatment for you or a loved one.
What happens during Orthodontic treatment?
The first step is to consult with you to determine if you need treatment and the best orthodontic option for you. Some people will benefit from clear aligners, while others may benefit more from fixed braces. We then provide you with the care or treatment that is needed. We will instruct you to come back into the office every few weeks to have adjustments done. For fixed braces, this means adjusting the wiring. For clear aligners, this means having a new set of aligners made for you to wear. Orthodontic treatment can take anywhere from just a couple of months to a few years depending on how severely misaligned your teeth currently are.
