What are Dental Emergencies?
Emergencies can happen at any time, and some come without much warning. If you are experiencing a dental emergency of any kind, we welcome you into our office for quick and effective treatment. We cater to patients of all ages, and are happy to provide the care that you need in a relaxed and professional environment. Regardless of whether or not you are an existing patient, our commitment to care is crucial during the emergency treatment process.
Why is treatment of Dental Emergencies necessary?
You may be assuming that you can forgo treatment for as long as possible when dealing with a dental emergency. Unfortunately, most dental issues will not resolve themselves, and only get worse with time. A tooth that is causing you a minor amount of pain right now can become infected and cause a severe toothache within a matter of days. It is always best to undergo treatment for an emergency as soon as you notice there’s a problem.
Who is a candidate for Dental Emergency treatment?
Dr. Ju can examine your smile and mouth to determine the root cause of the pain or discomfort you’re experiencing. We are able to provide emergency care to patients of all ages and regardless of whether they are an existing patient or not. Some of the more common emergencies we see on a routine basis include:
- Pain and severe toothache
- Abscesses and infections
- Orthodontic emergencies
- Broken, chipped, or cracked teeth
- Lost or loose restorations (fillings, bridges, crowns)
- Broken appliances (dentures, mouth guards)
- Bleeding, inflamed gums
- Wisdom tooth-related discomfort and pain
What happens during an Emergency appointment?
To begin the appointment, we will ask you more about the pain or problem you’re experiencing. We may take x-rays to help in further identifying the problem before providing treatment. If there is an abscess or an infection, we will prescribe antibiotics that need to be taken before treatment can begin. Dr. Ju will then provide quick, efficient, and proper treatment for the emergency. We advise our patients to keep up with their oral care to prevent future emergencies from occurring.
