Dentures & Partials in Simi Valley

What are Dentures & Partials Near You?

A partial is a smaller denture that is used to replace only a few missing teeth at a time. Full dentures are used to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Both types of dentures are helpful when it comes to improving oral functioning, as well as confidence. Whether you are simply missing a lot of your natural teeth, or have severely advanced gum disease, prosthetic oral appliances can help to restore your smile.

Why would Dentures & Partials be needed?

Dentures are needed for a few different reasons. The first reason for needing a denture is because you are looking for a way to boost your confidence and the look of your smile. When you are missing a lot of your natural teeth, your face and lips may even take on a sunken-in appearance. It may even be difficult to eat and chew without the proper denture.

Dr. Ju can examine your teeth and mouth to determine if you might need a denture. If you have advanced gum disease, we may recommend extracting your remaining teeth and placing a denture. However, if you still have a lot of healthy teeth, we may recommend a partial so that you can still keep what you have, while replacing what’s missing. Dentures can last for up to seven years before needing to be replaced.

What happens during the process for Dentures & Partials?

If extractions are necessary, surgery will be done before a denture is made and placed. Impressions are then taken of the mouth to make your brand new denture. You will come in for a second visit to have the denture placed. It is not uncommon to need several adjustments before the prosthetic fits perfectly. You will need to remove your denture nightly to clean and soak it. This helps to remove bacteria, as well as plaque, that could damage the denture over time. If your denture is showing signs of wear after five to seven years, we may recommend having it replaced.
